As part of MFA’s Centennial celebration, a historical book was written (after a year and a half of exhaustive research) by Chuck Lay, MFA’s Director of Communications. This book was designed and produced by The Donning Company, but I was asked to design the book cover, dust cover and inside covers. I created a custom version of the 100-year shield with textured surfaces, and designed the cover, spine, back cover, flaps and inside covers.
The inside covers feature a progression of MFA shields through the years. Several of the older period shields had to be recreated from scratch. The flaps are designed to align horizontally with the design on the inside covers.
